How we report
A public page says so, a person went and looked, and a neighbor recommended it are three different kinds of evidence. We label which is which.
How these guides are made
Everything published so far is desk research. Each guide was drafted with AI research help from official and primary sources, such as the Minnesota DNR, Driver and Vehicle Services and city websites. Every source listed under a guide was opened and read on the date shown.
No guide has been reviewed by a person yet, and nobody has gone to check any of it in person. Each one is marked as a draft, shows Byline pending, and is waiting for a named contributor.
Community input
Our community is a great source of ideas. A comment on Reddit or YouTube is where we start checking, not where we stop. Until we have checked it, it stays labeled as a recommendation.
Our own connections
If a story features a site or business connected to us, the story says so.
Photographs
We do not use AI-generated images. Photos in this edition are other people's work under open licenses, credited where they appear and listed on the credits page. A photo of a named place is not evidence that we went there.
What our labels mean
So far, only two of these are in use: Official source checked and Published by the provider. The others are here so you know what they will mean when they appear.
- We visited
A named contributor went and saw this in person.
- The business told us
It comes from the business or organization. We did not confirm it another way.
- Published by the provider
It comes from the organization's own materials, such as the DNR describing its own parks.
- Community recommended
Residents said this publicly. It reflects their experience and is not an established fact.
- Official source checked
This was read on an official government page or public record on the date shown. It was not checked any other way.
- Not independently checked
We could not confirm this. Treat it with care.
